September 22, 2007 around 5:00 a.m., it was a Saturday morning; Aunt Juanita Campbell couldn’t sleep so she got out of her bed and went down stairs into the kitchen. She began to clean the kitchen counter top and she lifted a crystal bowl and the bowl hit the floor and broke into many pieces. She heard the Holy Spirit minister to her the broken hearted and heart beat. God ministered to her the hearts are broken. Each heart beat will remind us that God is with us. She thanked God that very moment for her ministry. Putting back the pieces of the broken hearted.
The ministry started to meet and have bible study just ministering and teaching each other. Juanita again obeyed the voice of the Lord when she heard the Lord tell her Stefan and Julia need to lead this ministry in the direction that it needs to go. She was apprehensive because Stefan and Julia are Pentecostal and she is a Baptist; but the Lord knows when to mend the pieces together. September 2008, there was a powerful prayer service held at the home of then Minister Stefan Johnson; where the Lord had started opening up some doors.
Minister and Sis Johnson were going through their own personal trials and they just started to let the Lord lead them in the direction they should go. The house to house bible studies became more intense where people were receiving the Holy Ghost and being restored. Signs and wonders started to follow and expectations were great.
Minister Johnson took his catechism in July 2009 and became an ordained Elder, still not looking to go out any time soon; but the Lord had other plans. Saints were starting to get excited about the ministry and took personal ownership and calling it our ministry. The signs and wonders still following the ministry. October 25, 2009 we knew the Lord was pushing the ministry into the direction that “Now is the time”; just through opening prayer that day a woman received the Holy Ghost and an aunt received her healing. The Lord had put his stamp of approval. That week the name of Greater Hope Ministries became an entity in the state of Virginia. Inspired by the Holy Ghost, Elder Johnson wrote the Vision and Mission Statements.
The name Greater Hope had been given to Elder Stefan Johnson back in 1998. He kept this name close to his heart; not even telling his wife. Aunt Juanita, not even knowing, kept saying, “This ministry is going to be great!!!!”
